10/24/2012 Back in California I had joined a Mommy group. In August I had met with Justine Smith, another mommy in the group and friend from church, she told me about this group and I thought I would give it a shot. So when we decided to move to Minneapolis I checked to see if there was a group there. Lucky for me there is a group. I was able to join the Hip Mommas of Minneapolis. Our first outing with the group was a puppet show! This would also by my first time driving in the city, yikes. I mapped the location and thankfully it was a straight route from the main street we live off. I had planned our outfits ahead and got up with Tommy. It’s always fun when we are all getting ready in the morning. I really enjoy being up when Tommy is getting ready so we get extra time with him. First we met at the Imagination Theatre. Then the group headed over to a cafe where they have a play area! (so smart) Zoë got to play with a few of her new friends. One of the girls, Samantha, who is 2 was so thoughtful and brought toys to Zoë so she had something to play with. Eventually Zoë was surrounded by toys. Then she played with another friend who is only 2 months older than Zoë. They both have a full head of hair! They were both learning how to share. Zoë was a little reserved, but once her friend stole her toy that got her attention and she went for another toy. I didn’t get to capture too many photos of Zoë playing as I was watching and chatting with the other moms. I enjoyed socializing. By nature I am a social person and I didn’t realize how much I miss talking to other adults. Here is one of her playing at the cafe.
After playtime we went back to the Imagination Theatre and enjoyed the puppet show. The show was about Hedgehog and The Magic Butterfly: Hedgehog, who gets into nothing but trouble! This play features fanciful flying birds that dance in the air, an octopus general and his cavalry of seahorses, and the magnificent magic butterfly. The Magic Butterfly teaches Hedgehog an important lesson that helps him learn to be kind to others. Zoë was mesmerized by the play. It was done in black light with glow in the dark characters.

The show was about twenty minutes. We watched with a preschool group and it was funny to hear the kids commentary throughout the play. I couldn’t help to think that one day Zoë will be one of those preschoolers. Once the show was over the kids were instructed to sprinkle their friends with kindness. One of the preschoolers was so sweet and came over to Zoë and wiggled her fingers over her head. Now Zoë is sprinkled with kindness and she is ready to share her kindness with others in the world!
