12/9/2012 Our second snow day!
There was a storm advisory in effect and the weather man predicted about 5-8 inches of snow.
Come sunday morning there was well over 6 inches! We checked the winder advisory again and this is what we saw…
We were so excited to see A LOT of snow. When Ashley was here in November we only got about an inch or two at the most. This was enough snow to build a snow man! We decided it was a great day to play in the snow. So we got Zoë in her snow suit, jackets on the dogs, and beanies and gloves for Tommy and I. When we went out side it was still coming down. It was windy and the snow was blowing in our faces.
Zoë watched with wonderment and opened her mouth to catch a few snowflakes. It is official Rocky pretty much hates the snow or more specifically being wet and cold. Rambo loves being outdoors no matter rain or shine. He is such an adventurous pup filled with so much energy. Rocky on the other hand is stubborn and must be dragged outside to use the facilities. We were able to get a few pictures amongst the blustery snow fall. We watched as the plow “Bronco” cleared the lot next to our building. It is amazing to watch these men (I have yet to see a woman) clear these lots…they are such excellent drivers.
After we had enough fun playing in the snow we headed back in. We watched from our window as the snow continued to blanket the streets, roof tops, and our window sill. Tommy had the bright idea to make a snowman in side. It was perfect for Zoë to experience the snow and not freeze her cheeks off! We got a plastic mat, carrot, chocolate chips, and two sticks. We gathered three balls of snow and began to form our snowman. It was a lot harder to make than we initially thought. The balls kept falling apart as we were placing our eyes and nose. Finally we got our final product. He was far from perfect, but Zoë loved looking at him. We gave her a pile of her own snow to explore. She took a few bites and a few more. She seemed to really like the snow.
We took turns throughout the day to take the dogs out. I caught a few pictures of Tommy and the dogs as Zoë and I watched from the window.
I decided this was the perfect time to share one of my favorite Christmas movies with Zoë…White Christmas (I thought it was appropriate).
My favorite part is when Bob Wallace and Phil Davis discover the sister act. That song is such a crack up!
Here are the lyrics…
Sisters, sisters
There were never such devoted sisters,
Never had to have a chaperone, No sir,
I’m there to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome
She wore the dress, and I stayed home
All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those who’ve seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man
Sister and me and John
I know deep inside your heart that you will feel the best intention
Sister you will know
You understand that in the far I’ll always be you, the men will come and go
All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Three different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those who’ve seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man
After we finished our movie it was bath time. We finished off our snow day with a few Christmas stories. Last year we received a couple books, On the Night You Were Born and Jingles. I also have a book that was given to my sister and me in 1988 from our Grandma Mimi and G.G. I love this book because it is made out of fabric and Zoë can do with as she pleases (chew, slobber, pull, and shake). Jingles has been a lot of fun to read to her. It is an interactive book that when I read a line from the book Jingles the dog will bark, whine, or sing. The first time I read it to her she looked curiously around to find where the sound was coming from. I loved her surprised look.
Finally it was bed time and Dada and Mama enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate. The snow had finally stopped falling. We had accumulated about 15 inches of snow! We got some really great shots of the snow. We really find the snow refreshing and beautiful. We have also found that ice is dangerous! But we are taking the snow and cold weather in stride!
