Chelsea’s Visit

12/14/2012 We woke up late and hurried out of the house to catch the next lightrail to the Airport. Chelsea’s flight was landing as we were pulling away from Target Field. Once we got to the terminal Chelsea jumped on and we made our way to the Mall of America.

She has a huge crush on California and dreams of living there. I know one day we might be visiting her in California! Sadly coming to visit us now involves the same snow she has at home and slightly colder temperatures. Sorry Chels! So we decided to remain indoors as much as possible. Chelsea enjoys the down time since she is a busy woman these days working long hours as an actuary. If you are like me and don’t actually know what an actuary does, you can click the link to find out exactly what an actuary does. All I know is it has to do with math and I am not good at math, so from my standpoint Chelsea could use a break from math…I know I would! During Friday night dinner we decided we would catch a Timberwolves game. So we hung around Saturday and caught up on some Netflix. Then we walked downtown to get a little dinner.

We decided on Pho (it was raining and rain=Pho). After dinner we headed over to Target Center. We made it around to our section and looked up to find our seats. So from this experience I have found out that I may have inherited a slight case of acrophobia. My mom was deathly afraid of heights. She could barley stand on a step latter without getting scared. I am not that bad, but when your seats are in the nose bleed section (which I am totally fine with), but a vertical incline of 25˚my heart starts racing a little. We finally climbed to our seats and I planted my self as far back in my seat as I could go. Of course Chelsea and Tommy where getting a good laugh. I was trying to stay calm and enjoy the game, but I could not keep my eyes from looking down! Eventually I was able to relax enough to enjoy the game. We actually had a good angle of the game. We were directly behind a core board so we were able to see pretty much everything, but I guess at that height you should be able to see everything. Zoë loved the game. She was clapping and wiggling safely in her Dada’s lap. She loved it so much that she passed out! She woke up before the game was over and enjoyed a few more baskets made by Ricky Rubio (this was his debut game post ACL surgery). We decided to leave before the final buzzard, but as we were walking out we heard the Timberwolves beat the Mavericks. Yay!IMG_1484-1 IMG_1489-1 IMG_1494

IMG_1501 IMG_1503-1Every day we would diligently check the mail to see if any packages had arrived. If they did we took the liberty to open them. We got one from YaYa (my grandma Mimi), Auntie Debbie, and Auntie Marg.IMG_1474 IMG_1475-1IMG_1472-1

Sunday we went to the mall again…Tommy wanted to pick up a few things and it is an indoor activity, where it’s warm.

Then we went to Psycho Suzie’s for dinner. Chelsea enjoys food almost as much as I do (we have different wast lines, I clearly like food more). Chelsea is a wonderful cook and usually she will prepare a meal when she visits, but since we were leaving I didn’t buy too many groceries and I didn’t cook too much either. We all shared a shmorgishborg of food. Complete with cheese curds, Minnesota Sushi, burger and pizza. It was a pretty delicious.IMG_2191 Come Monday we just lounged around and I made Cranberry Bliss bars that I had planned on taking to California to share with our family and friends (we still have Cranberry Bliss bars). For dinner we decided on going to Matt’s Bar. I have previously shared what a Juicy Lucy is, well there are two competitors in town both claiming they invented the burger. So we decided to try out the 5-8 Club’s competition. Matt’s Bar is much smaller and holds tight to their authentic bar feel of the 1950’s. Matt’s only serves one kind of cheese and only one slice in their Jucy Lucy (Matt’s also spells “juicy” different). We all ordered a Jucy Lucy and shared a basket of fries. I have only tried the original Juicy/Jucy Lucy’s at both places (no fancy cheeses) and I think I can make the pretty bold statement of who I think has the best Jucy Lucy…I felt like I was cheating on the 5-8 Club, but Matt’s Bar really does have a mean Jucy Lucy! It’s cheesy center is much more liquid and mixes with the juice of the meat. It has a nice char to it and the simplicity of the meat really comes through. Oh goodness now I am going to be craving a Jucy Lucy!

464425_4662655399512_242031396_oThe day Chelsea left we ran a few errands at Target and yes…back to the mall we went for the 3rd time! Chelsea needed to make a return and I had a few items to return as well.

I really enjoyed having Chelsea visit. Here is one of my favorites of Chelsea and Zoë.IMG_1523-1
