HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

12/31/2012 It is a family tradition of mine to celebrate the new year with wontons.
IMG_2112 They are the Chinese version of a ravioli. It is a meat filled dumpling. Usually you find it in wonton soup, but we like to fry them and boil them (we boil so we can make potstickers with them the next day). I have made cream cheese wontons before, but I didn’t make them this time. Zoë munched on a raw skin while I wrapped as fast as I could. We always raced to see who could wrap the fastest…my mom could wrap circles around people. And we often made fun of the funny looking wontons. There is a little technique to wrapping. Most of the time if it was your first time wrapping they would look like envelopes, diapers, or a big blob. My motto is they all taste the same and when you boil them you can’t even tell the difference. We enjoyed our wontons and then we got ready to go out.IMG_2113IMG_2118IMG_2119IMG_2120IMG_2124

We did a google search for events happening on NYE and found out that the mall does a family event in the Nickelodeon Universe. They have music, rides, treats, and free activities. They also have some of the characters out for meet and greet. The theme this year was Rock the Universe and they had several “rocker” themed activities and  when we got there we walked the red carpet and have our picture taken. We took a look around and saw a few characters, but the ones that caught our eye were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (mostly because we knew who they were). Then we checked the back of our passes and decided to get rocker hair and airbrush tattoos. Zoë was a good girl and let the lady spray a little pink on her ponytail and sprinkle glitter (Dada hates glitter). He was adamant that she take a bath and wash her hair right when we got home. Zoë was a little surprised by the airbrush, but she sat on my lap and waited for me to get mine done too. When we were done we headed over to the dance party and watched the School of Rock Road Crew preform. Zoë loved the music. She danced and wiggled for a good 10 minutes. Then we decided to get a funnel cake….little did I know they  were previously frozen. They were TERRIBLE…Ally don’t be jealous, they were AWFUL! They were nothing like a Knott’s Berry Farm funnel cake, what a let down! Then we watched the “ball” drop at 10 pm. We quickly made our way out and headed home.IMG_2141IMG_2263IMG_2264IMG_2265IMG_2266IMG_2267IMG_2268IMG_2269 IMG_2270 IMG_2271 IMG_2272 IMG_2275IMG_2273 IMG_2274

Once we got home Zoë got a quick bath and washed all of her glitter out. It was about 11:15 when we were ready for bed and we decided we would let Zoë play as long as she was content. I gave her a goodnight kiss just incase she didn’t make it. She was jumping on me and climbing all over me. Then all of a sudden she stopped moving so much and was just laying on my back tapping me with her phone. Finally she just stopped moving all together. I whispered to Tommy to come check on her. She was passed out on my back. She made it to 11:45. It was a nice way to end the year. I love how sweet she looks sleeping on my back.
