Boo! October 2013

6/29/2014 I am truly enjoying looking back on our memories of last year. The weather was much cooler, eh maybe not. But I do enjoy the holiday season and I loved being a family again. It was heart warming to see Zoë in Tommy’s arms again and her smile when she looked into his eyes.IMG_2170-2We had a fairly big event happen in October, but I am going to save that love story for another day. The day after Tommy arrived home we picked up my Aunt and cousin’s for the big event. Oh, and Zoë got her first hair trim.IMG_2246-1 IMG_2251 IMG_2253-1 IMG_2259-1After things settled down Tommy and Zoë began their adventures together at home. IMG_2243-1 IMG_2526-2 IMG_2532-1We visited a local pumpkin patch to get into the harvest spirit. But we didn’t pick up any pumpkins.
IMG_2777-2IMG_2774-1 We decided to try out new things while we are here in California. We started off by taking a day trip to Bates Nut Farm to pick up a few pumpkins. IMG_2975-2IMG_2027 IMG_2120 IMG_2117IMG_2032We wandered the grounds and looked over the pumpkin patch. Turbo was a gentle steed and Zoë seemed very comfortable in the saddle. It was awesome to stand by and watch Zoë enjoy one of my favorite past times as a child. I remember the weekends my grandpa used to take us on pony rides. It was one of my fondest memories with my grandpa.IMG_2119Then we started prepping for Tommy’s 29th birthday, that just so happens to be on October 31st. We love getting together with friends and family and this year was no different. We typically DIY our costumes and this year we set out to do it again.  It is something my mom did for us when we were kids and I love carrying on the tradition. Plus Tommy loves it just as much as I do. The hunt is half the fun.IMG_2204 IMG_3026-2IMG_1873 IMG_1876 We painted our pumpkins. Things may have gotten a little out of hand, but we had a lot of fun! I chose a Cinderella pumpkin, Zoë got one big honkin’ one and one small one, and Tommy’s pumpkins were inspired by Daft Punk. IMG_2184 IMG_2196 IMG_3032We started Tommy’s birthday off with a visit to a doughnut shop before I headed off to work. Zoe loves to eat the sprinkles off the top of a chocolate doughnut. After work we got our costumes on and we headed over to the Austreng’s in Harveston. This neighborhood is a quaint little community. We walked around and then we had Tommy’s favorite, chicken mole with rice, beans, chips and salsa. We had a bonfire and yummy cupcakes while we passed out candy. We had a lot fun hanging out with our family and friends.

Originally Tommy had planned to be Ralph, but we couldn’t find him the overalls. So we changed gears and Tommy and I decided to be Doug Funny and Patti Mayonnaise, from ‘Doug’. We are already thinking about our costumes for this year! I CAN’T wait to celebrate Tommy’s 30th birthday!!
