Time to start regular posts again! I have been looking back and I have realized that as much as I enjoy sharing, sometimes my memory gets a little foggy and these posts help me to remember the little details of our life. Zoe absolutely LOVES pictures and I’m hoping Grey will enjoy them as well. So if you want to follow along on our little adventures and life moments we are happy to share.
Something that I have been hesitant to share, but really feel it’s necessary for my memories. In 2010 I had a miscarriage, then a few months later we had to put our first bulldog down due to health issues. My heart was broken from so many traumatic events and I couldn’t face an empty home. Somehow I convinced Tommy to go into a small pet store off of Hwy. 79. I promised it was to just look. There were three bulldogs in a pin. I asked if I could pet them. The female was spoken for, then there were two boys. They were both so adorable and I cried. We left empty handed. When we got home I cried some more and we talked about maybe getting one, but I felt bad separating the brothers and I made a case that they need companionship. So we drove back and picked up the two boys. Craziest decision! They seriously were the cutest!!

We loved on them like they were our children. They were my walking buddies. They would cuddle with me. They would follow me around the house. My favorite was how well they knew our routine and when it was time for bed. They would go half way up the stairs, like they were saying, come on guys it’s time for bed. Their snoring was our white noise. Then we got pregnant in 2011. They instantly became big brothers and they protected our family from any noises, balloons, brooms, and vacuums (their fear for those run deep). They followed Zoe around and they tolerated all of her shenanigans. I have shared about their relationship in another post. We even moved them to Minneapolis! Rocky hated the snow!
Then we moved back to California. They truly enjoy the sunshine. I loved how you could always find them sunbathing throughout the day. They had their favorite spots in the house.

I loved how they always wanted to be apart of what was going on. Zoe could be hanging out in a bag and they would want to check it out. Or she could be sittin’ on the stairs and they would join her, or vice versa. They loved their cousin dog Benny too! Sometimes they were a tough crowd to be around when it came to other dogs, but Benny was scared enough to join their pack. He fit right into their gang! Then Grey came along and their love for him grew. Grey was so smitten with them that he learned to roll to them. He honestly loves dogs, everywhere we go he walks right up to them.

When it came time to move again, we knew we wanted to find them a new home in California. They are getting older and we didn’t want to put them through another move. So I started asking friends and family if they knew of a good home that wanted bulldogs. We wanted to find the perfect old people home for them (that’s what Zoe likes to think). We were realistic and knew that keeping them together might not be possible. I had even reached out to the bulldog rescue, but then a friend of mine was very interested! She knew a friend that lived down the street from her who was also interested in a bulldog and thus we found the PERFECT homes for our bullies. Before we said goodbye to our bullies we took one last family photo.
The best thing about having someone you know love on your dogs is getting pictures and updates about them. I can see in their eyes that they are happy with their new families. Rambo is spoiled rotten! Rocky has a new fur brother and two new human sisters that love on him and let him sleep with them. It honestly makes me heart happy that they are getting the love and attention they deserve!
I have so many memories with these boys and there are so many things I love about them. They will always be in my heart. I will always fondly remember their snoring, gassiness, their ability to hoover their food in 60 seconds or less, their sweet faces and even cute-er booties, Rambo’s rambunctious personality and Rocky’s laziness. I love how they always propped their heads up on furniture. I love how they would always cuddle up and lay on eachother, sometimes sitting on the other ones head. I will never forget the time we took them to the beach or the times we would go hiking in the hills. I will always laugh thinking about Rambo sitting in the bike trailer with Zoe. These two boys have a special place in my heart. I love them both so much!
